Who am I?

Image of myselfMy name is Steven Dawes, and Ste-Daw Designs is my online presence.

At one time I had plans to become a web designer. While I learned a lot, I realized that it wasn't exactly for me (love the designing, hate the programming). But I've never let the “Ste-Daw Designs” website go and now I use it for my game hosting services.

As far as games go, I've been into playing all kinds for all my life. Some of my earliest memories include playing Monopoly or a card game with my family. I'm just old enough to remember playing games like Adventure on the Atari 2600 as a wee lad. As I got older I got smitten with playing a lot of different types of games (board games, card games, role-playing games, video games, Choose Your Own Adventure books, etc.) and I never recovered.

More about myself to come, so stay tuned!

F. A. Q. 's

Why don't you own more board games?: I've wrestled with this one a lot, especially since becoming the Librarian at Spielbound. I've met and work for people who proudly own 100's to 1000's of board games. So why don't I follow suit? Well, first off I've never been one to keep up with the Jones's, so I don't really follow suit with anyone; I've always been my own dog.

Second, I'm a completionist type of gamer. When I get into something, I jump in with both feet and obtain ALL of the available materials for the games that I love. On the other hand, I'm never wasteful when I can help it. I've intentionally kept my collection reasonable. By that I mean there are only so many hours in the day and if I cant honestly devote time to the games I own, I shouldn't have them.

As mentioned earlier I know a lo of people who own A LOT of games. One of the common aspects of these people however is that they never have time to play them all. Many of their games are still in shrink wrap!

The way I see it, Potentially they have a lot of games that they can play whenever they want... but the Reality that unless they have the time to play them all, they're wasting a lot of money and shelf space.

So while I don't have a large stock pile of games, I can assure you that all of my games have been played numerous times and I've obtained and used all the expansions and add on's available for them.

Lastly, one of the perks of working at Spielbound is that I get to check out games when I want to play them. I don't need to buy so many of them when I can check them out.

More F.A.Q.'s coming soon!

So what are we waiting for? Let's schedule an event!
